Interview With Cheryl The Pig Lady
What year did you begin coming to the Proctor Farmers' Market?
I began coming in 2008.
What size is your farm?
My farm is 5 acres.
Where/how else do you sell your produce?
A 85 family CSA, Primo Grill, and Capers Home Eatery.
How long have you been farming?
I've been farming all my life, but I've been doing it full-time for 15 years.
What do you grow?
We grow breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We are working on dessert (fruit is coming soon). We farm pork, beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, and eggs. We also have vegetable starts and herbs.
What farming methods do you use? (pest control, fertilizer)
Our farming methods are all natural: no hormones, no additives, no sprays, and we only use our own organic compost.

What are your favorite things about farming?
My favorite things are the animals and working with nature.
What are the biggest challenges of farming?
The biggest challenges are infrastructure and regulations.
What makes your farm unique?
All our animals run together and they all work on the farm. The only outside input is grain and hay.
Do you have special events at your farm?
Yes. The farm has a CSA customers-Harvest Fest BBQas well as a Meet your Meat event special times throughout the year.
Anything else you want people to know about your farm?
All of the product is sold and mostly eaten within 20 minutes of the farm. We love growing food for our community. Watch the video about the Mobile Slaughterhouse at KCTS Channel 9-Connects.
