Interview With Zach Zaubi

What size is your farm?

The farm is 8 acres, with 5 for farming.

Where/how else do you sell your produce?

We also sell at the 6th Avenue and Broadway Markets as well as church sales.

How long have you been farming?

We've been farming since 1989.

What do you grow?

We grow perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, vegetables, vegetable starts.

What farming methods do you use? (pest control, fertilizer)

We use as many organic processes as possible (we not yet certified as organic). We use sustainable processes.

What is one of your favorite things about farming?

I like to see where the food comes from and snacking in the field!

What are some of the biggest challenges of farming?

The weather, so much depends upon which people buy our stuff, having a variety of vegetables and ornamentals available, economy.

What makes your farm unique?

We’re a part of the community. We have volunteers who work with people with disabilities and learn about farming. a work program for people with disabilities, connection between people and plants.

Do you have special events at your farm?

We are part of Pierce County Harvest Fest. Other event is the opening day of greenhouses (in April). The greenhouses open on weekends

Anything else you want people to know about your farm?

We welcome volunteers.
